House of Flowers
The House of Flowers is one of the most visited tourist attractions, and is located in the area that is considered as the most beautiful one in Belgrade, Botićeva Street in Dedinje.
The House of Flowers is also a resting place for a lifelong president of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Josip Broz Tito, and his wife Jovanka. The building was built in 1975 and was originally a winter house with a garden, where Tito love to spend his free time, and so the place was known as “The Flowershop”.
After Tito’s passing on May 4, 1980, the entire area was remodeled and is now a memorial museum called the House of Flowers. Inside, next to Tito’s and Jovana’s tombs, there are also exhibits such as batons, which the president received for Youth Days throughout SFRY, his uniforms, photos, messages, and so on.
The House of Flowers is part of the Historical Museum of Yugoslavia and almost 20 million people have been through it since its opening.
Museum of Yugoslavia
Once upon a time there was a country… and it was called the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes…then, Kingdom Yugoslavia…Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia…just Yugoslavia…and then it disappeared. However, the memory of that period in history has not disappeared! That is why the Museum of Yugoslavia still exists (former History Museum of Yugoslavia) in a chronology of a country which in its peak was one of the most developed and powerful in Europe. The whole complex consists of three units – House of Flowers (in which the tomb of a lifelong SFRY president, Josip Broz Tito), Old Museum and Museum “May 25”.
