Dorćol
Dorćol is one of the oldest and most beloved districts of the city. The very name "Dorćol" translated from Turkish means "crossroads" where four streets intersect. The Bajrakli Mosque and the Sheikh-Mustafino Turbe are reminders of the time when Belgrade was under Turkish rule, but a particular decoration of this part of the city is the building of the Vuk and Dositej Museum.
This charming area is filled with interesting cafes and restaurants that hide in the shade of the tree tops or buildings that rise up around them. The most famous and lively street in Dorćol is Strahinjića Bana Street, where the recognisable energy of the city reigns. This neighbourhood is also known for the house on Dušanova Street at number 10 - it is the oldest preserved residential house in Belgrade, which represents the rest of the 18th century baroque Danube neighbourhood.
