Topčiderski park
Topčiderski Park is the oldest landscape park not only in Belgrade, but in all of Serbia. Here you can learn about the rich history of the city, pass monuments, fountains and water fountains from the 19th century, and visit the residence of Prince Miloš, which houses artefacts from the first and second Serbian uprisings.
In this park you will also find one of the most beautiful plane trees in Europe, which captivates with its crown and height of 34 metres, and some sources indicate that it has been standing there for about 150 years! You will also find the "Žetelnica" sculpture, which is the only preserved and oldest specimen of the decorative sculpture in Belgrade parks in the 19th century.
Residence of Prince Miloš
One of the symbols of Topčider Park is the residence of Prince Miloš. Built in 1834, it is one of the last remaining buildings of the Ottoman culture in Serbia. The old architecture, with its spacious porches and diwan-khane, best describes the spirit of the 19th century, and this is what is best felt inside this building. Besides the exhibition of weapons and objects from the first and second Serbian uprisings, you can also see the rooms where Prince Miloš Obrenović used to rest and drink coffee. Of particular interest is the room where his uniform and death mask are kept.
By the way, the Konak knez Miloš is one of the first palace complexes built in Serbia. For more information on opening hours and how to arrange a visit, click here.
